Australian Ryan Briscoe has continued his good run of form by finishing third at Fort Worth in the IndyCar shootout at the weekend.

The Team Penske driver fought back from a driver through penalty that put him a lap down and then later needed his nose cone replaced after a he tapped the back of a driver who slowed suddenly.

Kiwi driver Scot Dixon won the race from Helio Castroneves after a collision between Marco Andretti and Ryan Hunter-Reay which meant it finished under pace car conditions.

Australian Will Power managed to make it through the race without incident and finished 13th.

Briscoe’s result means he holds onto fifth in the standings, while Power is 11th in the title chase.

Briscoe missed his pit box on his first stop, which resulted in the drive-through penalty under green conditions.

He said, that left him with quite a task.

“It was tough, let me tell you, but it was also fun coming through the field,” Briscoe said.

Power was happy with his result.

“We learned a lot about the Aussie Vineyards Team Australia car and I finished a race on a mile and a half oval,” Power said.
“It was a crazy race. I had to dodge a couple of bullets when people went in the wall, but it was good fun and the Aussie Vineyards - Team Australia crew is getting the hang of these ovals, so that’s the main thing.”

The IndyCar series takes a week off before resuming June 22 at Iowa Speedway.
