    Nascar: Ambrose heads to Kentucky

    Marcos Ambrose is heading to Kentucky for his last Nascar Nationwide race before he steps up to the Sprint Cup for the first time on June 22.

    The Australian will be out get his Nationwide championship back on track after a gutting result in Nashville where he was caught up in someone else’s crash.

    The Nashville disappointment a round after Ambrose crashed out of the Dover round after his tyre failed.

    On the eve of the Michigan round, Ambrose traveled to Infineon Raceway in Sonoma to have a look at the road circuit in the lead up to the June 22 round.

    Ambrose and five other Nascar drivers hit the track in GT America stock cars supplied by Pioneer Motorsports out of Lake Oroville.

    It was the first time Ambrose had been to the Infineon Raceway track and he liked what he saw.

    “This is one of North America’s finest road races, so I’m excited to be a part of it,” he said.

    “If you make one small mistake around here, it’s 4,000 miles all the way home. There’s a lot of pressure and responsibility, but it comes with the territory.”

    Broadcast of the Kentucky Nationwide race begins at noon on Sunday.
