Troy Bayliss is looking to get his World Superbike Championship campaign back on track after his disastrous run in the US in Germany this weekend.

The superbikes will return to the Nurburgring, a track the championship has not visited since 1999.

Back then, it was Carl Fogarty and Troy Corser who won aboard factory Ducatis.

Fast forward to the 2008 German race at it will be Bayliss who goes into the race the strong favourite.

The Australian crashed out in race one and suffered mechanical issues in the second at the last round in Salt Lake City.

His main championship rival, Carlos Checa, won both US races, which saw Bayliss’ lead shrink by a hefty 50 points.

Bayliss acknowledges racing at the track that he has never seen before will be a challenge, but he’s ready for it.

“It’s another track that I don’t know at all, so again we will have to learn as we progress through the weekend in order to arrive at the best set-up for Sunday,” he said.

“I know that Max (Neukirchner) will be looking for a home win and he knows the track too so competition will be stiff but I’m fit and ready to race.”

Bayliss said he had put the US disaster behind him and was ready to go in Germany.

“I came away from the last round in Salt Lake City extremely disappointed and so I’m hoping to have a much more positive weekend now in Germany,” he said.
